Single Touch Payroll (STP) has been well and truly in place across businesses that process payroll for the last few years however, the ATO have now expanded it to STP Phase 2.
The key changes to STP include:
Disaggregation of gross (breakdown of gross in depth)
Employment and taxation conditions (employment basis, TFN declaration & details of when and why employees leave)
Income types (payments to employees with specific tax consequences, easier for completion of income tax return for employees & will help the ATO identify where you the employer are using a concessional reporting arrangement)
Country codes (payments to Australian residents working overseas)
Child support garnishees & child support deductions (reporting this through STP will reduce the need to give separate remittance advices to the Child Support Registrar)
Reporting previous Business Management Software IDs and Payroll IDs (this will only occur if you've changed your business structure)
